SEATTLE, WA . . . . Located in the heart of the University District, Hotel Deca (formerly University Tower Hotel) is nearing completion on a $2 million renovation, according to General Manager Don Dennis.

Award-winning designer Andrea Dawson Sheehan of Dawson Design Associates began parts of the room renovation project in 2005, with the hotel's Presidential Suite and two top-floor suites. An effort that won the hotel Lodging Hospitality magazine's 2005 Design Award and earned the property a spot on the cover of the April 2005 issue.

The overall renovation included improvements to the hotel lobby, grand ballroom and 158 guest rooms. New furnishings, carpeting, artwork and a wine bar now grace the lobby. The entrance exudes a modern, neo art-deco flavor to complement the building's original design and architecture. The contemporary furnishings and bright colors already in the hotel's award winning penthouse suites, were carried through in all public spaces. In addition, The Grand Ballroom now features 18' ceilings, hand-blown chandeliers and upgraded state-of-the-art audio/visual systems. Its fitness center also added all new Matrix cardio equipment and free weights.

Each guest room was reappointed with new furnishings, bedding and linens, upgraded lighting, 32" flat panel LCD TVs, DVD players, clock radios with iPod docking stations, in-room safes and complimentary Wi-Fi access. Most rooms offer stunning panoramic views of the Seattle skyline - considered some of the best views of the city.

An additional $500,000 renovation is slated to begin in early October on the hotel's exterior adding new architectural elements to enhance the building's 1930s art deco heritage. In addition, new paint, exterior lighting, signage and landscaping will round out the renovation.

Hotel Deca features 5,500 square feet of meeting space, a business center, fitness center, a cozy restaurant and lounge, and coffee specialty shop. For more information or reservations, please call toll free (800) 899-0251 or local (206) 634-2000 or visit www.hoteldeca.com.
